On Friday, November 22nd, we held a Doctor Who themed fundraiser to help reduce the cost to families to send their your travellers to the Berlin Improv Festival from March 21 - 31st, 2014.
We're happy to report that it was a resounding success!
200 people attended the event and we managed to raise just over $3,300 for the trip!
Many participants came dressed for the occasion and participated in the Doctor Who Themed Costume Contest!
Our concession featured a great selection of baked goodies, along with some Doctor Who themed drinks: the Galifrey Double Sunrise and the Regeneration Energy.
Outside the Vic Theatre, we had people generously donating money to have their picture taken with the TARDIS. We raised approximately $70! Thanks to our brave parent & student volunteers who stood out in the cold for the evening and collected the donations.
Just prior to auctioning off the TARDIS, we aired the 5 minute documentary video produced by Chris Lynch which features Alex Hewko talking about the building of the TARDIS.
Our winning bidder, an avid Doctor Who fan, gave the TARDIS to his lovely partner as a surprise Christmas gift!
Here we see the TARDIS being put to bed in its new home - Good night TARDIS!
A huge thank-you to everyone who came out and made this event a success! In particular, we would like to thank the following people & businesses:
- Alex Hewko for building the TARDIS
- Mr. Stew Wheeler (Vic High Shop Teacher) for spending countless hours coaching Alex, picking up TARDIS supplies, building the TARDIS transportation
- Chris Lynch for graphic design work, video production
- Charles (Chas) Martin for MC'ing the event and donating signed celebrity photographs to the auction
- Roshan Vickery from Kilshaw's Auctioneers for being our Auctioneer
